Where to Shop
Let’s talk about grocery shopping!
Once you arrive at the farm, you probably don’t want to head back out to a store 22 miles away to pick up the groceries you need for your stay. Our kitchens are stocked with some basics, and, depending on seasonality and availability, you can collect eggs and produce from the garden or purchase farm-raised meat from our freezer.
For everything else you need, here is a non-comprehensive list of stores along the various routes to the farm.
Corvallis
Safeway - 5270 SW Philomath Blvd (this is our closest full grocery store, 22 miles away)
Market of Choice - 922 NW Circle Blvd, Suite 110
First Alternative Co-op - 1007 SE 3rd St, or 2855 NW Grant Ave
Trader Joes - 1550 NW 9th St
Fred Meyer - 777 NW Kings Blvd
There are several grocery options in Corvallis including WinCo, a specialty seafood market, Grocery Outlet, Asian grocers, bakeries and so on. If you want to dine out, there are good restaurants and food carts (try Common Fields for a variety).
Corvallis has a vibrant farmers market on Saturdays and Wednesdays from April - November (9am to 1pm). They also have an indoor winter market that runs from January - April on Saturdays (also 9am to 1pm).
Philomath
There is a Dollar General (658 Main St.) in Philomath that has a small selection of fresh and refrigerated/frozen options, plus packaged foods and snacks.
Waldport
If you’re coming from the coast and heading up Hwy 34 from Waldport, there is a Ray’s Food Place (580 NE Broadway St.) on the way.
Newport
If you’re going to take Hwy 20 from Newport, it’s best to shop in Newport itself before heading inland. The other option is to come into Philomath and keep going into Corvallis and go to the Safeway mentioned above. Otherwise…
Fred Meyer - 150 Ne 20Th St.
Safeway - 2220 N Coast Hwy
Walmart Super Center - 160 Nw 25th St
Grocery Outlet - 721 N. Coast Hwy
Junction City (from Eugene)
If you’re driving up Hwy 99W from the Eugene area, you can either head into Corvallis or stop in Junction City. (Eugene has lots of options, too, but it’s really spread out and you’re better off searching Google while you’re there for whichever part of town you’re in).
Safeway - 1755 Ivy St
Grocery Outlet - 94582 Highway 99 East
Alsea
Down the road from the farm, about 5 minutes away, we have John Boy’s Alsea Mercantile, which carries some staples like dairy, packaged snacks, drinks, and a counter with some hot food options. And ice cream!!
John Boy’s Alsea Mercantile - 186 E Main St
We hope this post will help while you’re planning your trip to the farm! As always, you can feel free to contact us ahead of your stay if you have questions.
